A lifelong resident of Turtle Creek, age 90, peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Gola for 37 years.

Loving mother of David Gola of Turtle Creek and Karen (Jeff Toner) Gola of Maine.

Sister of Norma McQuade of Laughlintown, Ellen DiBernardo of Clarion, Elaine Owens of NC, Martin Knopp of Monroeville, the late Paul Knopp, late Phillip Knopp and the late Ronald Knopp.

Irene is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene was an Executive Secretary for the Union Railroad in East Pittsburgh prior to becoming a wife and mother. After her children were raised, she became employed in the cafeteria of Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh. She ended her career as a receptionist for her sister-in-law, Dr. Irene Smulczenski, Podiatrist in Pitcairn.

Friends are welcome on Thursday from 12 noon until the time of the Blessing Service at 1 pm. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Turtle Creek/Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave. at James St., Turtle Creek 412-823-9350.

Irene will be laid to rest in Good Shepherd Cemetery.

Dear Karen, Jeff and Dave,
Since sympathy to all of you on the loss of you Mum! I know you will miss her terribly but her suffering is behind her. She ended her time on her in a lovely residence and knew she was well loved.
May your happy memories ease your sorrow.

I was so sorry to hear about your mom. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies for your loss. I have a lot of wonderful memories of Irene and your dad (Joe). They were always so very kind to me and to the kids in our old neighborhood.
