Of Forest Hills, age 70, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, William Richard Helsel,Sr. and Margaret (Archer) Helsel.
Rick is survived by his sisters, Brenda Klein and Linda (Terrance) Prohaska, both of Philipsburg.
He was the uncle of Jennifer (John) DellAntonio of Philipsburg, Stephanie (Jeff) Guido of Monroeville and Todd (Brianna) Lidgett of State College.
Rick is also survived by 8 great-nephews, 1 great-niece, 3 great-great-nieces and 1great-great-nephew.
Rick was a 1973 graduate of Curwensville High School and then enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh from where he graduated in 1977. Upon graduation, Rick entered the banking field and was employed by Mellon Bank and BNY Mellon for his entire career until his retirement.
Rick’s favorite pastime was travelling throughout the world. He has visited numerous locales and countries in Europe, North America, South America and Asia. Rick also was an accomplished pianist and avid soccer fan. He was a staunch supporter of Pitt athletics, having been a season ticket holder for the Pitt football and basketball teams and maintaining a membership in the Golden Panthers.
There will not be a visitation. A Commemoration of his life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Rick’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
