A native of Wilkins Twp., age 71, died on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at his home for the past 18 years, LGAR Nursing and Rehabilitation in Turtle Creek where he was the longest termed resident.
Curt was the dear brother of Dean (Vicky) Buterbaugh of MD, Sheila (Guy) Visco of Wilkins Twp. and Kim (John) Pugliano of Penn Hills.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Curt was a 1970 graduate of Churchill High School and was employed at various jobs during his working life. He worked in gas stations, tended bar and labored in construction, but his favorite position was as a set technician for the movie industry in Pittsburgh. He assembled and dismantled sets for a variety of movies that were being shot locally. Curt’s credits included ‘Striking Distance’ and ‘Silence of the Lambs’ as well as less renowned films. During his work, he was able to meet such notable actors as Anthony Hopkins, Bruce Willis, Don Rickles and actress Jodie Foster. Curt loved to escape to his camp at Fleming Summitt in Clinton County for hunting and relaxation, and he was a staunch fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
18 years ago, Curt suffered a heart attack that left him disabled and in need of daily nursing care. For those past 18 years, LGAR staff made their facility Curt’s second home and treated him with love and devoted care as his extended family.
Curt’s family would like to express gratitude for the LGAR staff and the dedicated care that was afforded to him. They also want to thank Curt’s hospice nurse, Sarah, for the concerned attention that she gave him.
