Virginia May “Ginny” (Kidston) McGinty
Of North Versailles, born on November 9, 1946, Virginia May McGinty, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.  She was preceded in death by her late husband, Ernest Robert McGinty Sr., her parents, Richard and Gladys Kidston who were from Turtle Creek, and her brother, Richard Bruce Kidston of Woodridge, Il.
Ginny is lovingly remembered by her sons, Ernest Robert (Monica) McGinty Jr. of Exton, PA and Brian Patrick ( Abby) McGinty of Pittsburgh; her granddaughters Hannah Michelle McGinty, a third year honors undergraduate in Drexel University College of Biomedical Engineering, and Ashley Madison McGinty, a high school senior; her sister Elizabeth Kidston (Robert) Davic of Murrysville PA; and her brother William Allen Kidston of Verona WI. Ginny was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews, her aunts, Judy Pellegrino of Mt Lebanon and Gloria Bader of Turtle Creek, their deceased husbands, and many deceased aunts and uncles.
A 1964 graduate of Turtle Creek High School and National Merit Scholarship Finalist, Ginny pursued a career in nursing at the Lillian S. Kaufmann School of Nursing, Montefiore Hospital where she earned her R.N. degree.  She went on to build a distinguished career in the Coronary Care Unit of Montefiore Hospital. Her commitment to excellence was evident by her regularly passing the Coronary Care Certification Exams- an achievement she held with pride. All of this while being a wonderful mother to her sons.
Beyond her family and professional accomplishments, Ginny expressed her creativity through knitting and needlework.  Her countless cross-stitch pieces were admired for their precision and artistry. She also enjoyed completing 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles and spending quiet time reading or listening to a book. One of Ginny’s favorite pastimes was visiting garden centers with her husband and mother, a shared joy that brought beauty into their lives. She loved her granddaughters dearly and was always happy to see them or hear from them.
Ginny’s legacy is one of strength, grace and quiet determination- a life lived with purpose and heart. May her memory bring comfort and warm thoughts.
Friends are welcome on Friday from 1-5pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350 where a Remembrance Service will be held at 4pm.
Ginny will be entombed privately at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
