Virginia (Gallegos) Soltow

Of Monroeville, formerly of Turtle Creek, age 78, died on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

Beloved wife of David Soltow for 55 years as of this December 21.

Loving mother of Jodi (Timothy) Qualters of AZ, Christopher (Tina) Soltow of Turtle Creek and Laura (Linwood) McLaughlin of TX.

Cherished grandmother of Christopher (Fiancé, Mary) Soltow, Kaley (Daniel) Stockard, Anthony (Casslyn) Soltow, Hannah (Kevin) Kirby, Michael Soltow, Lexi Soltow, Ethan Qualters and Nathan Soltow.

Great-grandmother of Chloe Donaldson, Brooklyn Qualters-Howe, Cameron, Ryan and Levi Soltow.

Sister of Jimmy (Selfa) Gallegos, Patricia (Frank “Barry”) Shugart, David (Lydia) Gallegos, Michael (Lisa) Gallegos, Terry (Patrick) Okamura, the late Irene (late Dean) Erickson and the late Peter (surviving spouse Helen) Gallegos.

Virginia is survived by many nieces and nephews, and an expected great-grandchild who is due in April.      

Virginia attended high school and cosmetology school in Arizona. After settling in Turtle Creek with David, Virginia worked part-time as a hairdresser and was a crossing guard at St. Colman School, where she also sang in the church choir.  She was a very talented, artistic woman who could sew, quilt, embroider and crochet with brilliance, and possessed an expertise in decorating cakes. She often would design and sew her children’s and grandchildren’s clothing and Halloween costumes. Virginia also was a lover of music. She played the flute, clarinet, baritone bugle, and played and taught piano. She was an avid reader and was a fan of soap operas. Virginia was a pet and animal lover and never knew anyone as a stranger.

Friends are welcome on Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350.

Mass of Christian Burial in St. Colman Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish on Friday at 12:30.
