Victor R. "Vic" Kach Obituary

Victor “Vic” Kach of North Versailles, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday January 22, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Homestead on February 4, 1929, the son of the late John Kach and the late Anna (Bakara) Kach.

Vic was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marion (Lawson) Kach; his siblings, Margaret “Babe” (late Stanley) Emerick, Albert (late Dorothy) Kach, John (late Sis) Kach, and Edward (late Marie) Kach.

Vic was an incredible father to Gary (Pam) Kach of White Oak and Vicki (Gary) Sich of Penn Township.  He was a cherished “Pap” to Matthew, Daniel, and Rachel Sich.  Vic is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Vic was employed with the U.S. Postal Service, East Pittsburgh Post Office.  He began as a mail carrier and exceled to the position of Postal Supervisor before retiring in 1990.

His biggest happiness in life was spending time with his family and friends.  No matter the occasion, you could always count on him to fill the room with laughter as he shared his jokes, memories, and words of wisdom. He would happily tell everyone stories of his life and excitedly share all the good times he spent with his beloved Marion.

Vic prided himself on his independence. Up until the very end of his life, he gladly took care of his home and himself, enjoying his lasting ability to do so. People would often be in disbelief when they learned Vic’s age and would tell him that when they got older, they wanted to be truly living just like him.

Vic was a proud veteran, having served in World War II in the Merchant Marines and in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Wherever he went, he wore a hat depicting his military service and appreciated the many compliments he received on having served his country.

Vic was a man of many talents. He was a handyman who could fix anything that was broken. He was an artist who drew and painted gifts for his loved ones. Vic also found joy in spending time fishing.  He was incredibly charismatic, having the unique ability to make everyone he met want to be his friend. Vic had a loving, competitive side. He would invite you to a game of cards, pool, horseshoes, or darts, and jokingly tease his opponents as he won game after game.

All who knew Vic, found him to be an amazing man. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Friends are welcome Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory; 700 Linden Ave. at Cable; East Pittsburgh, PA 15112; (412) 824-8800.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church of Mary, Mother of God Parish.
