Theresa (McGrath) Pollitt

Lifelong resident of Turtle Creek, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023.

Born the daughter of the late John McGrath and the late Katherine (Casey) McGrath.

Beloved mother of Theresa Dietz, Herbert “Herky” (Mary Guy) Pollitt, David (Donna Estadt) Pollitt, Greg (Sherry Tucker) Pollitt, and Helen Pollitt.

Cherished grandmother of 17, great-grandmother of 35, and great-great-grandmother of 4.

Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Pollitt; her dear companion, Mervin Golder; her son, Lawrence Pollitt, who is survived by his prior spouses, Roberta Johnson and Janet Traficante; her daughter, Marilyn Schwartz; and her siblings, Katherine March, Mary Agnes Carritz-Pastories, and Rita Dowling.

Dear friend of Lois, Claudia, Shirley, Lorraine, and Bonnie.

Theresa was proud to have been a lifelong resident of Turtle Creek, a town she loved raising her 7 children.  She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.  Theresa was a believer in Jesus Christ, and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in North Huntingdon.  She was an active volunteer and member of the Board of Directors of Senior Center of Turtle Creek, where she formed many friendships playing cards, exercising, and playing Wii bowling.  Theresa loved life, loved her family, and loved her friends.  She treasured every day being a new adventure to share with others. 

Friends are welcome Friday from 2-7 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350, where a Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Theresa will be laid to rest in Good Shepherd Cemetery.
