Shirley M. (Kerestes) Matvia

Of Baldwin, age 75, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Born the daughter of the late Michael Thomas Kerestes and the late Genevieve Margaret (Kukleski) Kerestes.

Beloved mother of the late Jill M. Matvia.

Dear sister of Michael “Mickey” (Karen) Kerestes of Mt. Lebanon.

Also survived by her niece, Renee (Thomas) Boland; her nephews, Ryan (Betty) Kerestes and Jason Kerestes; along with 6 great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her nephew, Michael Kerestes.

Shirley was born and raised in Braddock, PA and was a 1967 graduate of Braddock High School.  She worked for over 20 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant, mainly for the Southwestern Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Shirley was a devout Catholic and member of St. Sylvester Church in Brentwood.

There will be no visitation.

Friends are welcome to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Shirley will be laid to rest in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
