Sharon Lee (Wood) Vezzani

It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Lee Vezzani of North Huntington announces that she passed away at age 79, on Thursday, May 14th, 2026, in the early afternoon at Forbes Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Sharon was the beloved wife of the late John E. Vezzani for 54 years. Together, they built a life rich with love, laughter, and countless memories.

She is preceded in death by her parents William Ducan Wood, Lila Muriel (Wilson) Wood, and her brothers William “Billy” Thomas Wood, Randy David Wood.

She was the loving mother of Debbie (Martin) Slobodnik and “Mammal” of their children Heather (Ryan) Wapiennik, Marti Ann (Shane) Zeppenfeld and Holly (Alec) Wiedl; and loving mother of Marcie (David) Torri and “Mammal” of their children Jesse (Brandi) Torri, Josh and girlfriend Kaitlyn Cramer, Allisa Torri and Ashley (Matt) Steiner, as well as Bryan Sager and Kaylee Bachofer whom she loved as if they were her own grandkids.

Sharon was a cherished Great-Mammal of Adalynn, Rylee, Emma, Julie, and Lorenzo. 

She was a proud pet parent of her beloved Little Johnny, her mini yorkie. 

Sharon was born at home in Elizabeth and was a career home maker. When her children were young, she volunteered in the lunchroom at the Norwin School District. Sharon was also an NRA member and shared her knowledge and experience as a hunter safety course instructor at the Sutersville Gun Club.

Mammal found joy in the simple pleasure of life. She cherished moments spent with her family and friends, where she would sit and talk for hours, sharing stories and a lot of laughter. Her loving nature was evident in the way she cared for others, and her sense of humor brought lightness to everyday moments. Sharon had a gift for making people laugh, and her laughter was the kind that could ease a difficult day and brighten a room. Her love for Hostess cupcakes was a charming testament to her sweet tooth. Sharon had a feisty spirit that will truly be unforgettable. Her presence was a source of comfort, and her love knew no bounds. Whether it was bowling in a league at Casoni Lanes and North Versailles Bowling Lanes, fishing, vacationing at the beach, or the thrill of bingo, Mammal embraced life with love and joy. Her personality left a lasting impression, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff in the ICU Care Unit at Forbes Hospital for their compassionate care during her final days. Their kindness and dedication will forever be appreciated.

Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday from 3-7pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, PA 15145, (412) 823-9350 where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 11am in the Funeral Home.

Sharon will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton.
