Ronald Rosa Obituary

Ronald A. Rosa Sr., age 77, of Penn Hills passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.  He was born December 8, 1946 in Pittsburgh, the only son of the late Carmen and Josephine (Papale) Rosa.

Ron served as a Medic in the Army Reserves for 6 years and was awarded an expert badge in marksmanship.

He was employed as a manager in group homes, caring for mentally challenged adults, for over 2 decades.  He was always an uplifting presence to clients, their families, and his coworkers.

His love of music sparked his talent in playing drums throughout his life.  In high school, he played in the Hi Lites with his cousin, Johnny Vento, and pal, Hank Edwardo.  He went on to play in the Four Notes performing at various venues throughout the seventies and eighties. He was proud to serve as band director for the drum and baton corps known as the Tri Boro Chargers during that time.

However, his most profound work was in the Joyful Noise Band, praising his Lord at Mt. Olivet Church in Wilmerding in the late eighties and nineties.

Ron will be fondly remembered for his comical sense of humor, quick wit and gentle spirit, often bringing a smile to those he cherished.

But Faith and Family meant the most to Ron.  His Christian walk began at Mt. Olivet Church led by Pastor Jeff Brahim.  There, he accepted Christ as his Savior.  And through life's challenges, his faith journey continued.

More than anything in the world, Ron LOVED being a Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.  In addition to his daughter and son, he raised and adored his granddaughter, Lea.

Ron was preceded in death by his beloved wife Donna (Skaro).  He is survived by his devoted daughter, Renee; his caring son, Ronald Jr. (Lisa); his cherished grandchildren, Lea (Stephen) and Ronald III (Briana); precious great-grandson, Cameron and dear cousin Peggy Lou.

He will be dearly missed by all the lives he touched.  But we find comfort in knowing that he has been welcomed into heaven by Jesus.

Family and Friends welcome on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Turtle Creek/Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave. at James St., Turtle Creek 412-823-9350, where a Blessing Service will be held on Sunday at 6:00 PM.  Ronald will be laid to rest privately with Military Honors on Monday at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
