Bobby was born and raised within the Stanton Heights section of Pittsburgh. She was incredibly proud to have been born the third youngest of the strong-willed Patterson family. Bobby met the love of her life, Jerry while working at Kresge Department Store in the East Liberty area. Bobby worked the candy counter and quickly noticed a shy store stockboy who seemed interested in more than just the candy treats. After a few weeks, Jerry finally gained the courage to ask her to a Halloween dance. This led to a 62-year marriage that some could only dream of having. After marrying in February of 1956, Bobby and Jerry quickly began their family. Bobby served as a homemaker and treasured the years spent raising her three sons, and later in life having the pleasure of seeing them grow their own families.
Bobby was also well known by her the Patterson and McCune families as a “favorite aunt.” She would often cook and bake for any family gathering and would take pride in the cookie table she would present for special occasions. Bobby enjoyed spending time in her earlier years attending dinner dances at the Sub-Alpine in Turtle Creek with family and friends. She was a gracious caretaker to anyone in need and provided exceptional care to her mother in law for many years. Bobby, although smaller in stature, was never afraid to step up and voice her beliefs. Her strength was also portrayed throughout her courageous battle with stroke complications which left her partially paralyzed for the past 27 years. Bobby will forever be remembered for her strong personality, stubbornness, humor and a warm heart which she poured out to those around her.
Friends are welcome Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory; 700 Linden Ave. at Cable; East Pittsburgh, PA 15112; (412) 824-8800, where a Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11am.
Bobby will be laid to rest in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
