Bob proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Naval Reserves.  He was employed for over 40 years as a roll grinder for the LTV Steel Works in Hazelwood, and was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #1843.  Following his retirement from the steel mill, Bob took a position delivering auto parts for Valley Auto Parts in Wilmerding, and later worked for Giant Eagle in Glenshaw.  Even into his 80’s, Bob’s work ethic was often admired by his employers and fellow coworkers.  Bob was a longtime member of the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge #45.  He was a train enthusiast, and loved hunting and fishing at his camp in Marienville, PA, along with taking trips to visit his cousins in Jane Lew, WV.  Most of all, Bob cherished the time spent with his family.

Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800.

A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Bob will be laid to rest with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery (North Versailles).

Bob’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staffs of AHN Home Healthcare and Amedisys Home Hospice for all they did to make Bob’s final journey as peaceful as it was.

Bob’s courageous health battle the last few years was admirable, he always lived by his motto, “Don’t say you’re sorry, it’s a sign of weakness.”  Rest in peace, Bob.
