Robert “Bulldog” Stanley Matesic

Of West Mifflin, formerly of Rankin, age 71, passed away in his home on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

Beloved husband of the late Kristen Matesic.

Loving father of Justin (Laura Przybyla) Matesic of White Oak and the late Robert “Bobby” W. Matesic.

Adored Pap-Pap of Robert Matesic.

Brother of Ricky Matesic.  Preceded in death by brothers; Paul, Joe and Mike Matesic.

Step-father of Laura Lynn Echard and dear friend of Vicki Keeton.

Bulldog was a 1969 graduate of Rankin High School and a 1973 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania.  He excelled as an athlete and played football all throughout high school and college.  Bulldog worked as a bus driver for the Port Authority for over 20 years before retiring.  He was an all-around sports fan, especially for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.  Bulldog was also never shy to tell the story of being in attendance at Three Rivers Stadium for one of the greatest moments in Pittsburgh Sports history, the Immaculate Reception.  He was always incredibly proud of his Croatian heritage.  Bulldog enjoyed going to brunch each Sunday with his family, listening to rock and roll music from his vinyl record collection, and loved nothing more in life than being a “Pap-Pap” to his grandson Robert.

Friends are welcome Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory; 700 Linden Ave. at Cable; East Pittsburgh, PA 15112; (412) 824-8800, where a Funeral Service will be held Sunday at 6 p.m.
