Of Turtle Creek, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026
Bob was the beloved husband of Mildred (Hopbell) Samsa for 65 years.
He was the loving father of Kathleen (Keith) Ruston of West Mifflin, Linda (Mark) Ruston of Cranberry Township, Roberta (late John) Kurta of Monroeville, Joseph (Catherine) Samsa of Monroeville.
Bob was the cherished grandfather of Zack, Craig, Brandon (Claire), Bailey (Danny), Juli, Gina, Luke.
He was pleased to be the great-grandfather of Brody.
Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose (Anzlover) Samsa and his siblings Frank (late Rose) Samsa and Dolores (late George) Carr.
Bob was a 1954 graduate of Turtle Creek High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps where he served active duty for 3 years, and 5 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Still bearing the duty to serve, Bob then joined the Army National Guard. He was employed at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh for many years until the plant shut down. Then, he became employed at University of Pittsburgh in the Shipping and Receiving Department from where he eventually retired.
Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, gardening, and fishing and, on Sundays, he could be found relaxing and listening to his favorite polka music. On most any day, Bob also delighted in bird watching from his back porch with his neighbor, Bill.
Bob was proud of his Slovenian heritage and was a longtime member of Slovene National Benefit Society (SNPJ).
Friends are welcome on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350., where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday at 12 noon.
