Richard A. "Rick" Mauro, Jr.

Of Wilkins Township, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 24, 2026, while in Talladega, Alabama, enjoying the race and festivities.  Born on February 24, 1965, Rick was the beloved son of the late Joan Dick and her husband Paul Dick, and the late Richard “Rick” Mauro Sr. and his surviving wife, Lenora.

Rick was a devoted husband to Marlene (Bobak) Mauro. He was a cherished brother to Jeff Mauro and his wife, Kim; Kevin Mauro and his wife, Melissa; Brian Mauro and his wife, Marie; George Dick and his wife Sandy; Barbara Milburn and her husband Michael; Lorrie Moon and her husband Chuck; Sharon Denton and husband Jack; the late Leo Bobak; and David Bobak.  He was also a much-loved “Funcle” to Sarah Mauro, Megan Lukanuski and her husband, Sam, Grant Mauro, Greta Mauro, Dempsey Bodan, Luc Mauro and his wife, Lydia, Noah Mauro, Gage Mauro, Jessica Milburn, Lindsay Dick, Paul Dick, Melissa Dick, Jason Dick, David Bobak, Jared Bobak, Nathaniel Bobak and the late Jackson G Denton III.

A graduate of Churchill High School and an Eagle Scout, Rick went on to study mechanical design that took him from Dayton, Ohio, then to York, Pennsylvania, and eventually back home to Pittsburgh.  He followed his passions with enthusiasm, especially as a motorcycle builder, including his work on the Silent Grey Fellow during weekly bike nights at Uncle Don’s.  Rick was an active member of H.O.G. and Allegheny A.B.A.T.E., serving in leadership roles including Treasurer and President.  He planned ride events, supported charitable efforts such as the Toy Run and Pig Rescue Run, and advocated for motorcycle rights before the Pennsylvania Senate and House of Representatives.

Rick had many passions, interests and talents.  He loved Frank Zappa’s music, he liked camping, he created cigar box guitars, and did wood carvings, he enjoyed tanning hides, working with chipmunk, deer, sheep, beaver, and coyote hides, and he was a proud fan of Pittsburgh sports teams.  He looked forward to annual traditions such as the Vintage Grand Prix, where he volunteered as a security shift leader, and spending time with family and friends at Lake Erie in Northeast PA.  Known for his friendly demeanor, Rick was well-liked by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  His warmth, approachability, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
