Of Forest Hills, age 75, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021.
Rick passed away at home, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a 1964 alumnus of Shadyside Academy and went on to attend Penn State University. He was a longtime employee of Equitable Gas Company. Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Virginia (Wolfe) Heasley; his brother, Barry (Barb) Heasley of Downingtown, PA; his children, Lori (Bill) Mitchell of Maitland, FL, Todd (Brenna) Heasley of Peaks Island, ME, Emily (Caleb) Sawyer of Austin, TX, and Katie (Sam) Crockett of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA. Rick was Grandpa Rick to ten adored grandchildren, Riley, Cory, and Laine Mitchell, Phineas, Silas, Dashel, Elias, and Felix Sawyer, and Evelyn and Grace Crockett. He was a founding member of City Reformed Presbyterian Church in Greenfield and an avid fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams and Penn State football. Rick was passionate about cars, driving, and doo-wop music. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Cles Heasley.
Friends are welcome to attend memorial visitation on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 3-7 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory; 1111 Monroeville Ave.; Turtle Creek, PA 15145; (412) 823-9350. A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in City Reformed Presbyterian Church, Greenfield. Immediately following the funeral service, all are welcome to attend a picnic to commemorate Rick’s life. Rick will be laid to rest privately in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
