Regis P. Lacey

Of Ligonier, a former resident of East Pittsburgh, age 85, died on Friday, May 16, 2025 in the loving care of his family.

Rege was the beloved and dedicated husband of Helen A. (Lynch) Lacey for 65 years.

He was the cherished father of Regis M. Lacey of Hempfield, Peggy (Jim) Soderberg of Ligonier, Therese (Mike) Riedmuller of FL and Bill (Ruth) Lacey of CO.

Rege was the grandfather of Brenden (Rachael) Lacey, Michelle, Jessica, Melissa Soderberg and Niki Hodge; Patrick and Samantha Riedmuller; Melissa and Michael Lacey.

He was the great-grandfather of Alex and Jamie.

Rege was the brother of John (late Bridget) Lacey of Dover, OH and the late William Lacey who was killed in action in 1967 while serving in Vietnam with the U.S. Army.

Rege was a 1957 graduate of East Pittsburgh High School and a retired employee of Westinghouse.

Rege's professional journey was deeply intertwined with Westinghouse, where he started as a young welder in East Pittsburgh. His exceptional talent shone brightly when he mastered the rare and intricate skill of welding copper, a technique that became invaluable to the company. This unique ability played a pivotal role in his transfer to the Cheswick plant, following the closure of the East Pittsburgh facility in the 1980s. There, his craftsmanship continued to contribute to the manufacturing of Westinghouse's large generators and electrical equipment.

After a fulfilling career, Rege retired in 2001, turning his attention to transforming a simple cottage into a comfortable home in Ligonier. His retirement years were spent tending to his property, a labor of love that created a welcoming haven for family and friends.

A passionate sports enthusiast, Rege's loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Notre Dame football was well-known. Yet, despite his fervor for sports, it was the time spent with his loved ones that Rege valued above all else.

A commemoration and celebration of Rege’s life will be held at a later date.
