Perneta F. "Nita" (Tidwell) Metzgar

Of North Braddock, age 84, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025.

Born the daughter of the late Luther Tidwell and the late Gladys (Nelson) Tidwell.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Metzgar.

Loving mother of Robert (Eileen) Metzgar of Plum, Susan (Curt) Landis of North Braddock, and the late Jeffrey Metzgar.

Cherished grandmother of Brienne (Steve) May, Kelsie (Christopher) Hoffman, Shea (Matt Shaeffer) Metzgar, Maeve Metzgar, Rory Metzgar, Damien Landis, Kaity Landis, Cayla Landis, and Paige Landis.

Adored great-grandmother of Fiana, Neave, Kayleigh (Jonny), Delaney, Mairin, and Arlo.

Dear sister of Patricia Getschell and Sandra Tidwell.  Sister in law of Tom Metzgar.  Preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Tidwell and Nita’s identical twin sister, Loneta Kelly.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Nita was born on her family’s farm located in White Rock, TX, on June 15, 1940.  Nita’s family relocated to Vandenberg Air Force Base for several years due to her father’s military assignment.  While on the base, Nita worked as a civilian employee with the Air Force, and also met her soul mate, Bob, who was serving in the Air Force.  Later when the two relocated to North Braddock, Nita began a career with the Social Security Administration which would span nearly 30 years before she retired.  Nita had many hobbies, such as crafting, quilting, refurbishing furniture and home remodeling.  She took pride in her home and was always willing to host friends and neighbors for parties over the years.  She enjoyed bowling, completing crossword puzzles and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  Most of all, she treasured spending time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren.

Friends are welcome on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800, where a Blessing Service will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
