Formerly of the North Side and Bellevue, most recently of Wilkins Twp., age 90, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
Paul was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline (Ley) Egan for 65 years until her death in 2021.
He is the father of Sandra (Thomas) Burg of Forest Hills, Paul (Tammy) Egan of Keyport, WA and Patrick (Susan) of West View.
Paul was the proud grandfather of Dr. Gregory (Rebekah) Burg, Ryan (Kassandra Morgavo) Burg; Noah Layton, Anthony Egan; Nicole and Brandon Egan and the great-grandfather of Eleanor and Theodore Burg and Allie Layton.
He was one of 10 siblings including the surviving Michael (Mary Pat) Egan, Cecelia (late Alan) Mazzerini, David (Barbara) Egan and those preceding him in death, Catherine Egan, Howard Egan, Charles (surviving spouse, Mary Lou) Egan, Richard (surviving spouse, Barbara) Egan, Daniel (surviving spouse, rose) and Joan Egan.
Paul was a graduate of St. Michael High School on the South Side and soon after graduation, enlisted in the Army for military service during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he worked for Allis Chalmers in Manchester before being hired with the U. S. Postal Service. Paul worked as a clerk in the Downtown Post Office and eventually retired from the Northside Post Office. During his time at the Post Office, Paul moonlighted as an usher at both Forbes Field and Three Rivers Stadium for the Pirates and the Steelers. In his spare time (no pun intended) Paul enjoyed bowling and being the captain of the Alley Cats, a travelling team that called Forward Lanes and later, Arsenal Lanes, their home alleys.
