Nina A. (Strano) Nase

Age 94, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Locust Grove Personal Care Home and Memory Care in West Mifflin, where she has resided for approximately 3 years.  Prior to that, she was a resident of Wilkins Township. 

Nina was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Nase, having celebrated 72 years of marriage prior to his death in August of 2013.  Nina was born in Punxsutawney, PA on July 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Strano.  Nina was one of 13 children, with two surviving her sister, Mary Altheide of Buffalo, NY, and brother, Andrew Strano of Greese, NY. 

Loving mother of Marilyn (Bill) Mautino of Chalfant Borough and Joseph R. Nase of Napa Valley, CA.

Nina is also survived by one grandchild that she referred to as “the apple of her eye,” Joseph Brown of Wilkins Township. 

Throughout her life, she worked various jobs, retiring after 29 years of service as a cafeteria employee at the former Churchill Area High School and then the Woodland Hills High School.  After retirement, Nina explored her passion for ballroom dancing along with her late husband.  Life long friendships were formed as a result of the many dances that they attended.  Nina was a long time member of St. John Fisher Church in Churchill, where she enjoyed many functions through and at the church, such as being a member of both the Churchill AARP and the Catholic Ladies of Charity.  She was also a member of the 250 Club at St. Maurice Church in Forest Hills.  During her younger years, she was an avid bowler in various leagues thoughtout the area.  In her memory and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue Shelter and Wildlife Center, 6620 Hamilton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15206 or online at www.supportanimalrescue.org/donate.

Friends welcome Tuesday 6-8 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home, 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, 412-824-8800.  Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10 AM at St. John Fisher Church, Churchill.

Nina will be laid to rest in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monroeville.
