Of Penn Hills, age 85, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
Nick is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mathilda “Tootie” (Willis) Pranis and his two loving children, James Pranis and Deborah (Patrick) Bachner.
Nick was a proud grandfather of Ryan Patrick, Blake Nicholas and Paige Mackenzie Bachner.
He is also survived by his sister, Joan (late Joseph) Kenney.
Nick was a 1953 graduate of Munhall High School and continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. He became an insurance adjuster for General Adjustment Bureau and furthered his career with Fireman’s Fund Insurance for 25 years. After a brief retirement, he worked a short time with Zurich American Insurance Company.
Nick was an amateur actor and appeared in stage plays while a student with the Pitt Players and later with the Penn Hills Players theater group. He also had an artistic ability as evidenced by his oil paintings and drawings.
Nick was a volunteer and member of the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church “Ypapanti” in East Pittsburgh. He served his church as a member of council for many years and, for a time, as President.
Nick was a staunch fan and rooter for favorite teams, the Pitt Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Friends are welcome to a Funeral Service in the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church , 1672 Electric Ave., East Pittsburgh on Thursday, February 11, at 11 a.m. Viewing in Church will be from 10-11 a.m.
Nick will be laid to rest in Monongahela Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Ypapanti.
