Obituary of Nancy Jean Startari, age 83, of Level Green, died on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Nancy was born on December 24, 1941, in Pittsburgh the daughter of the late Homer and Frances (Hopkins) Greer. She was a graduate of Trafford High School. Nancy spent her life taking care of her family and served as a life consultant for her four children; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was a generous contributor to so many local charities including The Trafford/Level Green Christian Food Bank, Cystic Fibrosis, and both American Heart and Cancer Associations. She truly led a life of giving to her family, friends and people in need in her community.
Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Eugene “Gino” Startari, Sr; sister Barbara Vuic, brother-in-law Daniel “Dushy” Vuic and brother Wayne Greer.
Nancy is survived by her four children Diane Startari of Pittsburgh, Eugene "Gino" Startari Jr. and wife Wendy of Fairport, NY, Amy Startari Veoni and husband Alan of North Versailles, and Michael Startari and wife Terri Lynn of Trafford; her loving grandchildren Luke Startari, Francesca Veoni, Sophia Startari, Reno Scalzitti, Mia Scalzitti (husband Dr. Akhil Vaid); two great grandchildren Aarav and Mera Vaid, three sisters Donna Caruso and husband Don of Level Green, Linda Greer of Trafford, and Diane Hankowitz and husband Tony of North Huntington and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy was blessed to have longtime friendships with a special group of women from Level Green. For decades they gathered for monthly lunches. Their bond is and aways will be unbreakable. The survivors of this great group will never know how appreciative the Startari family is to their unconditional love. Nancy’s final lunch with the group took place just two weeks prior to her passing and will forever hold a special place in all our hearts.
Nancy was truly one of a kind. She lived her life by simple means--never looking for the spotlight despite giving so much to so many. She preached to her kids The Golden Rule but more importantly showed it with her interactions with all who had the privilege to know her.
Nancy will be laid to rest privately in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles, and a celebration of her life will be held later in 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Trafford/Level Green Christian Food Bank, 433 Cavitt Avenue, Trafford, PA 15085.
