Mitsuyo (Kawai) Morita

Of Pittsburgh, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Born on November 28, 1927 in Osaka, Japan, the daughter of the late Sadagoro Kawai and the late Kaneko Kawai.

Beloved wife of the late Toshio Morita.

Adored sister of the late Yoshio (the late Kazuko) Kawai, the late Kumiko Katahira, the late Kunio (Shizue) Kawai.

Sister-in-law of Atsuko (the late Toshio) Okazaki and Hiroshi (Kumi) Morita.

Dear aunt of Toshihiko (Toshiko) Kawai, Yoshiaki (Naomi) Kawai, Noriko (Atsushi) Mochizuki, Takako (Anton Tan) Morita, Junko Morita, and Yoichi (Yukako) Morita.

Great-aunt of Aysen (Charlotte) Tan, Sachi Tan, Kiena Tan, along with other great nieces and nephews.

Mitsuyo was a proud home maker and dedicated caretaker to her husband Toshio for many years.  She was a talented violinist who always had an interest in improving her skillset to play more advanced pieces of music.  Mitsuyo also enjoyed spending time on the golf course, alongside Toshio.  Mitsuyo also found relaxation while sewing and tailoring clothing, and completing cross-stitch puzzles.  She will forever be remembered for her outgoing and kindhearted nature that was extended to anybody she came across.   

Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 1-4 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350, where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Mitsuyo will be laid to rest privately.
