Of North Versailles, age 92, died peacefully at home with loved ones present.
Beloved husband of the late Rose Marie (Kost) Hornyak for 52 years.
Loving and proud father of Deborah (Gary) Yazwa, Daryl (Jeff) Fromm, Donna (Craig) Ray, Diane (Jim) Cannon all of Arizona, David (Alexa) Hornyak of FL, the late Daniel (late Lynette), late Dean and late Dale (late Colleen) Hornyak.
Mike is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and his dear friend and companion, Mary Ellen Pazur.
Mike was a graduate of Duquesne High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the War, he was hired on at the Union Railroad and was employed as a brakeman and conductor until his retirement at age 62. During his career on the Union Railroad, he also worked 2 other jobs, driving a school bus and driving a dump truck, in order to support his wife and 8 children.
Mike was a member of the East McKeesport VFW, the White Oak American Legion and the Norwin Elks where he socialized with friends, old and new. Mike was enjoyed dancing and was generally full of life. He was simply a fun guy to have in one’s company.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, Mike’s Mass of Christian Burial, Presentation of Military Honors and interment at St. Joseph Cemetery will be private to his family.
