Mary Carol "Mare Mare" Wykoff Obituary

Of Monroeville, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Born the daughter of the late James Donohue and the late Evelyn (Sehn) Donohue.

Beloved wife of the late David L. Wykoff.

Loving mother of Caitlin Stritmatter of Edgewood.

Adored sister of James “Bud” (Heather) Donohue and the late Margaret “Peggy” (surviving spouse, Roy Smith) Jameson.

Dear aunt of Kevin (Vanessa) Jameson, Lauren (Brennan) Laird, and Haley (Mike) Hiller. Great aunt of Shay and Sierra Jameson, Olivia and Owen Laird, and Myles Hiller.

Mary was a 1969 graduate of Gateway High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Pittsburgh.  Mary dedicated over 25 years of her life to the skies as a flight attendant with US Air, based out of Pittsburgh. Her career allowed her to fulfill her passion for travel and to connect with a myriad of individuals from all walks of life, leaving a lasting impression through her warmth and genuine care for others. Following her time with US Air, she continued to share her love for the city as a concierge with Visit Pittsburgh, where she became a beloved figure to both locals and tourists alike.

Her love for her Irish heritage, Pitt football, and most importantly, her family, were cornerstones of her life. Mary's eyes would often sparkle with joy as she recounted tales of her travels, especially her cherished trips to New York City to experience the magic of Broadway shows.

Mary loved hosting parties, such as her annual Oscars costume party and annual Badminton party.  Her home was a hub of hospitality, always filled with laughter and music.

A proud member of the Edgewood Country Club, Mary found joy in the camaraderie with her fellow members and the various events they would plan together.  Mary's journey through life was filled with joy, friendship, and love. Those who knew her will forever cherish the memories and moments that were brightened by her remarkable spirit.
