With profound sadness and very heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom and Grandma, Marlee R. Kapcin. Formerly of North Braddock, Marlee passed away peacefully at the age of 86, on Friday, April 9, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Helen Kerr, her husband, Edward L. Kapcin, Sr and her Son-in-Law, Wallace E. Chapman.
She is survived by her four children, Edward L. Kapcin Jr., Valerie Buzzelli, David Kapcin (Darlene) and Lee Ann Chapman, as well as her treasured grandson, Joshua Kapcin. Also, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Born on October 20, 1934, in Braddock, PA, Marlee grew up in Swissvale and graduated from Swissvale High School in 1952. She enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served at the Pentagon during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, she went on the Duffs Business School and then embarked on a long career in healthcare, most notably serving as a unit clerk in Braddock Hospital for over 40 years.
Mom had a passion for sunflowers and collected Thomas Kinkade prints. She always felt that both could brighten up a room, just as she, herself, could. She was known for giving big hugs, her sharp wit, her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit.
She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Friends welcome Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home 700 Linden Ave., East Pittsburgh 412-824-8800, where a Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Marlee will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Monongahela Cemetery.
