Obituary of Mark T. Johnston

Of Turtle Creek, formerly of Wilkinsburg, age 64, passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2026.

Born the son of the late Paul Johnston and the late Antoinette (Brown) Johnston.

Beloved husband of Donna J. (Fonzi) Johnston for 35 years.

Loving father of Audrey (Seth) Podolsky of Springdale and Carrie (Andy Power) Johnston of Turtle Creek.

Adored grandfather of Elliott Podolsky, Nora Podolsky, and Bennett Power.

Dear brother of Thomas (Rosann) Johnston, Suzanne (Darryl Maloney) Gribik, and the late Mary Johnston.

Cherished uncle of Dana and Liz and other special nieces and nephews.

Also survived by his “third daughter” Maddie Snyder, and his dogs, Otis and Roxy, and his cat, Vinnie.

Mark was a 1980 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School.  He was a valued veterinary tech at the VCA Fox Chapel Animal Hospital (formerly Swart Animal Vet).  Over 47 years ago, Mark pursued his passion for caring for animals from all walks of life, he truly cared for his career and his fellow coworkers.  Alongside his daughter, Carrie, Mark was a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He enjoyed camping in Kelly Station and caring for his sister Mary’s farm in Big Beaver.  Another of Mark’s passions was listening to music.  Most of all, Mark treasured his valued roles of being a husband to his soul mate, Donna, and father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.

Friends are welcome on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, Turtle Creek, PA 15145, (412) 823-9350, where a Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m.
