Age 86, passed away peacefully at the Willows at Presbyterian SeniorCare on Monday, June 23, 2025.
She was born 6/12/1939 in Sweetwater, TX. She attended Rice University where she met her future husband, David Miller. They participated in sit-ins in Houston during the Civil Rights Movement. They moved to Pittsburgh, PA when David got a job as a history professor at CMU. After their daughter Roberta was born, Margaret returned to school and achieved a Masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Information Sciences. She worked at PPG as a systems analyst for many years - stopping in 1986 when she had major back surgery for scoliosis. From then on, she volunteered at 10,000 Villages and was very involved in Sixth Presbyterian Church. Margaret and David volunteered frequently to help with the monthly meals provided by Sixth Church for the homeless shelter at East Liberty Presbyterian Church. She loved caring for her grandchild Andy when he was young. Despite significant physical limitations, she remained a positive, generous and kind person all her days. She will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Miller; son-in-law, Jeff Peterson; grandson, Andrew Miller-Peterson; sister, Betsy Leonard; nieces, Carey Matson and Sarah Pearson; and great nieces and nephews, Sarah and Margaret Matson, and Nils and Thomas Pearson.
