Madelyn J. (Gizzie) Backa

Of Wilkins Twp., age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Monday, August 8, 2022.

Beloved wife of the late Edward "Ted" Backa.

Loving mother of Leigh (Vincent) Paskie of Franklin, Ted Backa and Pat Backa, both of Wilkins Twp.

Cherished grandmother of Christopher and Eric Paskie.

Dear sister of Joan (John) Kost, Dennis Gizzie, and the late William Gizzie.

Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Madelyn was a 1950 graduate of St. Thomas High School.  She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Colman Church.  Madelyn worked for 10 years as a secretary for the Westinghouse Corporation.  She took great pride in being a home maker and caring for her family.  The greatest joy Madelyn had in life was being a grandmother to her grandkids.

Friends are welcome Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory; 700 Linden Ave. at Cable; East Pittsburgh, PA 15112; (412) 824-8800.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m.  in St. Colman Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Madelyn will be laid to rest in Church Hill Cemetery.
