Lisa Mulroy Obituary

Of North Huntingdon, a native of East Pittsburgh and former resident of Lincoln Place, age 56, died peacefully at home on September 25, 2022, after a courageous battle with ALS (“Lou Gehrig’s Disease”).

Lisa was the beloved daughter of Carol (Reeder) Mulroy (Tom Fry) of North Huntingdon and the late Donald “Wicky” Mulroy.

Precious sister of Kevin (Wendy) Mulroy of North Huntingdon.

Treasured aunt of Ryan and Riley Mulroy.

Niece of Linda (late Paul) Farren of FL.

Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents, William “Jack” and Agnes Reeder; and Thomas and Helen Mulroy.

Lisa was a 1984 graduate of Turtle Creek High School where she was the head majorette in the marching band. She then attended and graduated from Bradford Business School. She began her work career with the Zamias Group and transitioned to the insurance industry with Liberty Mutual and, for the past 25 years, Marsh & McLennan. Lisa’s career was cut short by ALS. However, she has received remarkable support from her former boss of 12 years, Mark LaMendola, who continued his friendship, and his noble commitment to support both Lisa and her family.

Until her diagnosis, Lisa was a member and volunteer with Holy Angels Parish in Hays.  She then moved to North Huntingdon and became a member of Immaculate Conception Church.  She became an inspiration to family, friends and former co-workers at Marsh and McLennan, and with Lisa as motivation, they raised over $11,000 at the recent ALS Walk. To continue her efforts to give back to others, Lisa graciously donated her brain, spine and musculature tissue to be studied in the fight against ALS.

When able, Lisa enjoyed gardening, bike riding, sunsets, the scent of honey suckle in the wind, walking the Great American Passage Trail, rooting for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and most especially, spending time with Ryan and Riley.

Friends are welcome on Saturday, from 5-8pm and Sunday from 2-7pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, on Monday at 10 a.m.

Lisa will be laid to rest privately.

Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association, 416 Lincoln Ave., Millvale, Pa 15209 or www.als.org; or Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 or www.thinking outsidethecage.org.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
