Kathleen "Kat" H. Murray

Kathleen “Kat” Murray, a longtime resident of Turtle Creek, age 65, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025.

Born the daughter of the late Joseph Murray and the late Rose (Cima) Murray.

Beloved sister of Joseph (Phyllis) Murray of Hampton Twp., Daniel Murray of Turtle Creek, Christine (Steve) O’Hearn of VA, and Marion (Bill) Malus of Monroeville.

Dear aunt of Brittany (Ron Rizzotte) Westwood, Megan Murray, Ellen (Alex) Dinsmoor, William Fonzi, and Jakob O’Hearn. 

Cherished great aunt of Jaxson Rizzotte and Ainslie Dinsmoor.

Kathleen also leaves behind many close friends and work colleagues.

Kathleen was a 1978 graduate of Turtle Creek Area High School and obtained a BS degree from Georgia State University.  She started her career as an administrative assistant for the Georgia Power Company in Atlanta.  Kathleen later worked for FEMA in multiple roles providing disaster relief. She had over 90 assignments in her time with FEMA project work that took her all over the USA. Kathleen found her true calling in helping thousands of people who had experienced tremendous loss from natural disasters.  She retired from FEMA with over 28 years of service.

One of Kathleen’s fondest memories was from the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.  She was a driver who transported athletes, judges and other Olympic staff all over the site of the games. She met many interesting people and loved being a promoter for the city of Atlanta.

Kathleen was a member of St. Colman Church in Turtle Creek, now St. Joseph the Worker Parish.  Kathleen cared deeply about, and was immensely proud of her family. She loved being with her siblings and extended family. She will be sorely missed by those she leaves behind. 

Friends are welcome to a Memorial Visitation on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, PA 15145, (412) 823-9350.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Maurice Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Kathleen will be laid to rest in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
