Kathleen “Kitty” Kennedy Donohue, 93 of Sandusky, Ohio, formerly of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully on October 16 in the company of family members.
Kitty was born on May 17, 1931, in Albany, New York, to Martin and Sarah (Millie Cunningham) Kennedy. She graduated from St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer, New York, and furthered her education at Albany Business College. Kitty retired as an office manager from Penn Center Management after 25 years of service.
On May 24, 1952, she married Francis “Frank” L. Donohue, and they eventually moved from NY to East McKeesport, where she lived for over 60 years. Kitty was a woman of deep faith, a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron, and was previously very active in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in East McKeesport, chairing and serving on numerous committees over the years. She was a beloved CCD teacher where she and Frank taught for almost 20 years. Kitty enjoyed painting, square dancing, camping at Scottyland, wintering in Florida, and everything Steeler football. She was an active member of AARP and the North Versailles Senior Group. In August 2023, Kitty moved to The Commons of Providence, in Sandusky, where she flourished. She loved participating in their many activities and events. She loved winning at bingo, trivia Tuesdays, spelling contests, arts and crafts, wine down Wednesdays, the Dinner Group, and going to the casinos. Because of her positive outlook, she was named an honorary Ambassador for the Commons. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and cherished friends.
Kitty is survived by her two daughters, Colleen (Robert) Williams, of Clarkesville, GA and Dawn (Robert) Bauman of Huron, OH; grandchildren Ryan (Kim) Williams, Ian (Victoria) Williams, Erin (Joe) Achtermann, Kallan (Joanna) Williams, Caitlyn (Jeremy) Bonner, Ashlan (Robby) Toles, and greatgrandchildren, Ally, Kennedy, Lily, Colton, Mitchell, Rory, Brooks, Roman, and Gage, along with numerous nieces and cousins. Kitty was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her parents Marty and Millie, her dear sister Doreen Kennedy Beaudin, and Doreen’s husband John “Jack” Beaudin.
Friends may call 9:00 – 10:45am on Saturday, October 19th at Foster Funeral Home – Crematory, 410 Main Street, Huron, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Doug Garand presiding. An additional visitation will be on Monday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave, East Pittsburgh, where a Blessing Service will be held at 12 noon. Interment will be at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Monroeville.
