Of Monroeville, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from dementia at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Kathi was born in Braddock on September 28, 1950 and was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew “Shotes” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Wisniewski) Tkach. She was the beloved wife of Edward C. Huot, 4 weeks to the day “shy” of their 50th wedding anniversary. Kathi was the loving mother of Kristen Huot and Michelle (Ross) Cosnotti; doting grandmother of Madilyn Huot. She was the sister of Andrew Tkach (late Antionette) and the late Michelle Cummings (surviving spouse, Howard). Kathi is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Kathi and Ed met when students at the University of Pittsburgh in 1970. Kathi was a 1968 graduate of St. Thomas High School in Braddock and graduated from Pitt in 1972 with a BS in Education and earned her Masters of Education at Pitt. She taught elementary education for 30 years in the General Braddock/Woodland Hills School Districts before retiring on disability in 2002 due to failed back surgery that she received in 1999. Diagnosed with dementia in March of 2016, her reduced physical ability, coupled with her declining mental ability, created serious challenges to her mobility. Despite being bedridden for the last 20 months of life, Kathi truly enjoyed visits from family and friends, Eat ‘n Park baked fish, Applebee’s steak and shrimp, chocolate milkshakes and Vocelli’s Pizza!
