Of East Pittsburgh, age 82, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Born the daughter of the late Elmer and Tillie (Hinkelman) Stamates.
Dear mother of Stacy (the late Brian) Welsh of North Versailles, James (Ollie) Welsh II of Louisiana, and Rae Ann (Gary) Mimnaugh of East McKeesport.
Treasured grandmother of 10 and loving great grandmother of 8.
Cherished sister of Beverly (the late Albert) Carr, and the late Elmer Stamates, Jr.
Karen is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Karen is a proud graduate of East Pittsburgh High School class of 1960. She spent years working Bingo at the American Legion in East Pittsburgh, where she formed lasting friendships and brought smiles to many. She was an avid sports fan, always eager to discuss the latest games, and cheer on the Pittsburgh teams. Karen also loved trips to the casino and shopping outings, but nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her family.
Friends welcome Monday 2-8 p.m. at the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800 where a Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Karen will be laid to rest at William Penn Cemetery.
Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her warmth, passion, and unwavering love for her family will live on in their hearts.
