Obituary of Joseph Kenneth “Ken” Murphy

Of Monroeville, a North Braddock native, age 79, died peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Ken was the beloved husband of Patricia (Musser) Murphy for 57 years.

He was the loving and devoted father of Michael Murphy, Amy (Bill) Sech and Jennifer (Ricky) Wynn, all of Monroeville.

Ken was the treasured grandfather of Michael Murphy, Jr., Sierra Murphy, Adam (Shaina) Zinza, Justin (Emmily) Murphy, Abigail Sech, Jacob Wynn and Korey Wynn and he was proud and delighted to be the great-grandfather of Sawyer Ann Murphy.

Ken was the brother of Barbara Jean (Robert) Fogel of North Braddock and Colleen (Ken) Widziszewski of Delmont.

He is also survived by his dear uncle, Rodger (Pat) Robare of North Braddock and several nieces and nephews.

Ken was a 1964 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and later achieved his Associate’s Degree from C.C.A.C. Boyce Campus. For many years, Ken was a career Steamfitter with Steamfitters Local #449.

As a longtime Mason, Ken was a loyal member of F&AM Plum Creek Lodge #799 where he was a 32nd Degree Past Master and a Shriner. Ken also was a member of the Wilkins Elks #577, the A.O.H., Div. 17, of Monroeville, the Trafford American Legion, the Ukrainian Club in Wilmerding, and he was a social member with the Monroeville #3 Fire Department.

All are welcome on Wednesday from 2-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350 where a Masonic Service will be held on Wednesday at 7:30pm. Ken’s Funeral Service will be in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Ken will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Crossroads Cemetery in Monroeville.
