John "Jack" Perry

Of Churchill, celebrated his 100th birthday on May 1, passed away peacefully beside his family on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Born the son of the late Michael Apiyari and the late Katherine (Kotlar) Apiyari

Beloved husband of the late Gloria “June” (Prosser) Perry, together they shared 75 wonderful years together.

Dear father of John S. (the late Janice E. Mazanet) Perry of Greensburg, Edwin M. (the late Linda Gold) Perry of Braddock Hills., Janice Barndollar of Bethel Park, and Michael W. Perry of Lexington, VA.

Loving grandfather of Christopher J. (Young Soo) Perry, Zachary J. Perry, and Alex M. Barndollar.

Preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Jack proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during WWII.  During his service, Jack served as a combat medic in the Pacific Theater, and was primarily stationed in the Philippine Islands.  At the time of his discharge in 1946, he was awarded several commendations, most notably the Bronze Star for his meritorious service.  Jack spent nearly 40 years employed with James H. Matthews Company, where he worked as an industrial engraver.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed having a fine glass of bourbon, which earned him the designation of being a Makers Mark ambassador.  Jack was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Maurice Church (St. Joseph the Worker Parish), where he volunteered for many parish events, and was especially active with the summer flea market.  Jack and June loved to travel to their favorite destinations, where they gained countless lifelong friendships.  Most of all, Jack treasured time spent with all of his family, especially his grandchildren in later years.  

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Maurice Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. 

Jack will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to caretaker, Patty Boyle, and the staff and residents of LGAR in Turtle Creek, along with the staff of Suncrest Hospice.  Jack’s final journey was put at ease with the aid of those just mentioned, his family will be forever grateful.
