Formerly of North Braddock, age 55, passed away on August 14, 2022, at Jefferson Hospital surrounded by his loving family and faithful fiancé, Lee Turley.
John was born on November 3,1966 in Braddock Pennsylvania. John has eight surviving siblings; Sandi (Jim) Craig of Conway S.C.; Sheri (Kenneth) Newton of North Versailles, Pa.; William (Brenda) McCambridge of Ocala, Fl.; Alexander (Lisa) McCambridge, of Wilmington N.C.; Tami McCambridge, of Clearwater Fl.; Shawna McCambridge, of Epsyville, Pa; Jaci (Darryl) Ulyas, of North Huntingdon Pa.; and Kip (Kim) McCambridge, of Cranberry Pa. and many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews, numbering over 70.
John grew up on the hills of North Braddock, Pa. Upon graduation from Woodland Hill Swissvale High School, he joined the United States Air Force in May 1986. Following basic military training, John attended Air Force Aerospace Propulsion Specialist training at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas. During his 10 years in the Air Force he was responsible for the inspection, diagnostic, repairs, and test runs of jet engines while ensuring safety of flight for Air Force aircraft. After leaving the Air Force, John continued to work in the jet engine career field as a private contractor in Florida and in Pennsylvania. John was employed as a heavy machine operator at USSteel, Clairton Plant at the time of his passing.
John greatest joy and treasure was spending time with his daughter Roberta "Bobbi" Elizabeth McCambridge. The two enjoyed traveling and visiting amusement parks. Locally, Kennywood was a favorite but recently a dream trip to Walt Disney World in Florida, together with his devoted girl friend Lee Turley, was a dream come true for them. He was a passionate football fan and strong supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers as wells a long time season ticket holder up until his passing.
John was preceded in death by his Father, John "Jack" P. McCambridge, and Mother, Elizabeth "Betty" McCambridge.
John will be interred at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in a private ceremony, at a date still undetermined.
