James Schlonski Obituary

Of Monroeville, age 81, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, October 13, 2025 after a sudden hemorrhagic stroke.

James was born on August 10, 1944, the son of the late Mildred and Stephen Schlonski, in Rochester, N.Y.

James is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Nikki Katsilas Schlonski and their 2 children, Amy Schlonski (Donald Winkie) and Jamie Guido (Darren Hess) and 6 grandchildren, Elijah Winkie, Jessica Guido, Emma Winkie Manso (Tony Manso), Jenna Guido, Jordan Guido and Julianna Guido.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia (surviving spouse, Richard) Randisi and Judith Schlonski.

James was a 1962 high school graduate of Aquinas Institute of Rochester and a graduate of the University of Rochester. He began his career as an engineer with Westinghouse where he played a vital role in the development of nuclear energy throughout the world. James earned 7 patents for his designs of fluid systems in nuclear power plants. His work afforded him the opportunity to travel to many countries where he provided expert consultation to further nuclear power production.

All are welcome on Tuesday, October 21, from 4-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800 where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday, October 22, at 11 a.m.

James will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery.
