James F. Murray

Of Monroeville, raised in East Pittsburgh, age 77, died peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, September 4, 2021.

Beloved husband of Georgia (Naley) Murray for 53 years.

Loving father of Sherry (Richard) Rodgers of Canonsburg, Jim (Melissa) Murray of NC. And Jeffrey (Kate) Murray of Sharpsburg.

Proud and treasured grandfather of Jessica, Tyler and Alexandra Rodgers; Payton, Mason and Gavin Murray; Morgan Miller, Isaac and Stuart Murray.

Dear brother of Judy (Tom) Komenda of OH, Marianne (David) Rees of Penn Twp., John (Nancy) Murray of Springdale and Barry (Mauricio) Murray of FL.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John F. “Kike” and Marie (McCabe) Murray.

Jim was a 1962 graduate of St. Thomas High School in Braddock. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh after 7 years of night classes while employed at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh. Jim travelled extensively for Westinghouse in his career as a Project Manager. His career duties caused him and Georgia to live in Czech Republic, Korea, Philippines, and Sweden.

Jim was a member of the A.O.H., Division 17 in Monroeville. He enjoyed travelling, reading novels and history books, golfing, 50’s on Five radio channel and Doo Wop music. But, most of all, he loved spending any time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s events.

Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 2-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350 where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
