Obituary of James W. Libell

Of Chalfant, age 90, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Jim was the beloved and loving husband of Doris A. (Quinn) Libel for 66 years.

He was the cherished father of Susan (Robert) Hendricks of OH, Sharon (William) Stoehr of FL and April (Kevin) Van Der Weele of NC.

Jim was the treasured grandfather of Justin (Elizabeth) Hendricks, Chris (Kristin) Hendricks, Chelsea Hendricks; Karl (Nancy) Stoehr, Mikayla Stoehr, Zachary (Irina) Stoehr, Matthew Stoehr and Kaleigh (Kalob) Crawford.

He was the great-grandfather of Alexander “Alex”, Michael, Maddie, Emma, Luke, Charlotte, Liam and Albert.

Jim was the brother of Judy (Tom) Garvin, Patricia (Bill) Turner and the late Robert (late Carol) Libell.

Jim was a 1953 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired steamfitter and 50-year member of the Steamfitters Union, Local #449.  For many years, Jim  was an active member of the Chalfant Servicemen’s Organization.

As per Jim’s request, there will not be a visitation or service.
