Beloved wife of the late Albert W. Culig
Dear mother of Carl (Midge) Culig of Penn Twp., Michael (Megan) Culig of Shadyside, and Rosemary Foerster of Swissvale.
Cherished grandmother of Joseph (Haley) Culig, Christopher Culig, Martin (Hannah) Culig, Caroline (Michael) Muha, Amy Culig, Leah Culig, Kimberly (Zach) Gilreath, and Julia Foerster.
Loving great grandmother of Samuel and Harris Culig; Grant and Olivia Gilreath; and Elsie Mae Muha.
She is preceded in death by her siblings Howard (Kay) Koepka, Marie (Alfred) Schneider, and Dorothy (Stanley) Lenart.
Ilene is a proud graduate of Trafford, class of ’46, where she graduated as Valedictorian. She worked at Westinghouse for a few years, where she was proficient on the Comptometer. Later in life she attended Allegheny County Community College where she graduated with an associate’s degree in accounting. She then went on to work as a bookkeeper and prepared taxes for over 30 years. Ilene participated in the Monroeville Red Hats and held a membership with the Croatian Fraternal Union. At the age of 5, Ilene found her love of reading. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Ilene loved to crochet, quilt, and sew. She also enjoyed singing and playing piano. Ilene found peace and happiness outdoors. She camped, went water skiing, and walked around taking in the beauty of nature. Traveling was another of Ilene's passions, allowing her to explore new landscapes, cultures, and experiences.
Friends and family welcome Thursday, January 16, 2025, 4-8 p.m. at the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek / Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, 10 a.m. at St. Colman Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.
Ilene will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery reunited with her husband, Albert.
