Helen (Harvanka) Campbell

Of North Braddock, age 86, passed away peacefully next to her soul mate, Leo, on Friday, April 30, 2021.

Beloved wife of Leo F. Campbell, who together celebrated 65 years of marriage on April 28, 2021 after meeting on a blind date in 1956.

Loving mother of Cindy M. Campbell of State College, Leo M. Campbell of Wexford, and Brian (Liz) Campbell of Mt. Lebanon.

Treasured grandmother of Ava and Sean Campbell.

Preceded in death by siblings; Margaret Ovuka, Mary Boldt, Rachel Zumbrook, Ann Vargai, John, Joe, Ed, Elmer, and Jimmy Harvanka.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Helen was born and raised on Bell Avenue in North Braddock.  She was a proud 1952 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School, where she gained passion for music, playing both the violin and the accordion.  Helen was an avid golfer and for many years enjoyed playing several rounds each week with Leo or in the Cloverbells Women’s Golf League at Cloverleaf Golf Course.  Both Helen and Leo loved to travel and spent time over the years on cruises, traveling internationally to Europe, and making several golf trips to Florida .

Helen treasured the time she spent caring for her family, friends, and her home.  She was known for taking pride in cleaning, cooking, and baking, most notably her famous homemade nutrolls.

Friends are welcome Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory; 700 Linden Ave. at Cable; East Pittsburgh, PA 15112; (412) 824-8800, where a Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m.
