Harry Kainaroi

Of Homestead, age 103, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Born in Homestead, PA, on November 6, 1922.  Loving son of the late Sophia (Hasapes) and Peter A. Kainaroi. 

Harry was married for 60 years to his beloved wife, the late Ann Elizabeth (Amber) Kainaroi.

Loving father of Peter Kainaroi, Harry (Carroll) Kainaroi, Michael (Antionette) Kainaroi, Yvonne Foster, and Adrianne Canady.

Dear grandfather of Anne, Matthew (Susan), Chris, Thomas, Calla, Zoe, Sophia, and Samuel.

Great grandfather of Isaac, Lily, Penelope, Jack, Gwen, Serena, and Eva.

Harry was preceded in death by his brother, Thoms A. Kainaroi, and his sisters, Vula (the late Vellis), Freda (the late Chaconas), and Helen (the late Hunyady).

Harry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was presented with 5 Bronze Stars.  He was a lifetime member of Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church (Ypapanti) in East Pittsburgh, where he served as past president of the church.  Harry was the founder and owner of Kainaroi & Evancho Gulf, which is still in operation after 76 years (currently named K&E Automotive).

Harry and his wife, Ann, enjoyed their retirement years in the Gulfport Florida Community, where they enjoyed various activities alongside their friends. 

Friends are welcome on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800, where a Trisagion will be held on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Additional visitation will be held on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon in Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church (Ypapanti), where a Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon.

Harry will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
