Harold Robinson Obituary

Formerly of Wilkins Twp., age 98, on Monday, March 29, 2021, died peacefully at home with family by his side.  

Beloved husband and best friend of the late Sara May (Willits) Robinson.

Harold was the 3rd child of 6 to the late Robert and Clara Elizabeth Robinson who were both born in County Down, Ireland.

Harold is survived by his 6 children, Jack (Linda) Robinson of Seminole, FL; James (Carol) Robinson of Valencia, Virginia (Jeff) Varrato  of Myrtle Beach, Richard Robinson of Jacksonville, FL; Ruth (Bob) Hanson of Wilkins Township and Sara (Steve) Dietz of North Versailles. Loving grandfather to Jennifer (Todd) Salac, Michael (Diana) Robinson, Dawn (Chris) Jones, Amie (Randy)Teyssier, Beth Fitzgerald, Bob (Lauren) Hanson, Steve Dietz, Ashley Dietz, Lori (Chris) Olsen, Ryan Seyffert, David Seyffert, and the late Angela Almany, and great-grandfather to many great grandchildren. He loved them all. Harold was preceded in death by his 5 siblings Elizabeth, Robert, Florence, Walter and Donald.

Harold grew up in Wilkinsburg and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School. He was a veteran of U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theatre from October 1942 to January 1946. He was a gunner’s mate on the submarine chaser USS SC 1327, which escorted many convoys through the Pacific.  In 1946, along with his brother, Robert, and with the help of their father, Robert, he founded Robinson Brothers Beer Distributor Co. in Wilkinsburg where he continued to work for 23 years. Harold was also employed by Longue Vue Country Club where he worked in the maintenance department after graduating from Connelly Trade School. Harold along with his wife Sally were devout members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Eastmont. 

Friends are welcome on Monday April 5th from 2-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Turtle Creek/Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave, Turtle Creek, PA 15145; 412-823-9350. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, at 11 am in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Eastmont, 1229 Jefferson Heights Rd, Pittsburgh, 15235; 412-824-4525.  Harold will be laid to rest with Military Honors in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, Rt. 30, North Huntingdon. Masks are mandatory in the funeral home and church.
