Gerald A. "Gerry" Dettore

Gerald A. Dettore, affectionately known as Gerry, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024, in Natrona Heights, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Born on October 15, 1947, in Braddock, he was the son of the late Albert and late Helen (Kosco) Dettore. Gerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Gerry is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Kathleen (Livermore) Dettore, his three daughters, Dawn (James) Daggett of Export, Danielle (James) Smith of Raleigh, North Carolina, Dacia (Jason) Kreinbrook of Natrona Heights, his grandchildren, Nicole, Taylor, Brandon, Matthew, Emma, Archer, and Alina, and great-grandchildren, Madeline and Luca. He is also survived by his sisters, Cynthia (late Wayne) Cava of North Hills and Charmaine (Lou) Catanzarite, his especially devoted cousin, Noelle (Benny) Vann and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerry was raised on Fleet Street in Rankin and attended St. Thomas High School in Braddock until his Junior year. He transferred to Munhall High School when his family moved there, graduating in 1965. He then went on to earn a degree from Penn State University in 1969. His education and determination laid the foundation for a successful career and a life filled with accomplishments.

After working for an employment agency for a year, Gerry joined PNC Bank, where he spent 33 years climbing the ranks and ultimately retiring as a Vice President. Throughout his career, he was known for his wisdom, thoughtfulness, and passion for helping others achieve their financial goals. He was also an active member of the community, serving as a longtime member of the Braddock Rotary Club, delivering meals on wheels, and a board member of the Pittsburgh Italian Scholarship Fund.

Outside of work, Gerry was an avid golfer and took great pride in being an original investor in the Grand View Golf Club. He monitored the development of the property on a daily basis and was always eager to share his love for the sport with others. His involvement with the golf club and the Rotary Club allowed him to forge lasting friendships and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those around him.

Gerry's favorite vacation spot was Disney World, where he loved to create magical memories with his grandchildren. It was in these moments that his family truly saw the depth of his love and devotion to them. He was a constant source of support and encouragement, always putting the needs of his loved ones above his own.

In his later years, Gerry faced the challenges of Parkinson's disease with grace and determination. His family and friends admired his resilience and strength, and they will forever cherish the memories they created with him. Gerry's legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the lessons he taught.

Friends are welcome on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 1-4pm at Patrick T.
