Gary Keane Obituary

Of Forest Hills, age 67, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Beloved husband of Mary E. “Mary Beth” (Wisniewski) Keane for 37 beautiful years.

Treasured father of Nathan “Nate” and Jacob “Jake” Keane of Forest Hills.

Cherished grandfather of Isabella “Bella” Keane.

Dear brother of Donna (Steve Kensinger) Keane of Wilkins Twp., John (Noreen) Keane of Wilkins Twp., Kim Monardo of North Carolina, and the late Edward Leroy Keane, Jr.

Gary is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edward Leroy Keane, Sr. and Elsie (Gerkin) Keane.

A proud graduate of Wilkinsburg High School, Class of ’76. He worked as a security officer at UPMC Mercy and Forbes. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years, being one of the founders of the “Get-On-The-Truck” Campaign, which was a testament to his commitment to public service.

In Gary’s spare time, he enjoyed listening to the police scanner. He found peace in life’s simple pleasures, sitting outside, listening to the birds, windchimes, squirrels, etc. He was known for his quick wit and legendary dad jokes, always finding a way to bring laughter to those around him. More than anything, his greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughter, Bella. Whether sharing stories, playing games, or letting her do his makeup and nails, their bond was filled with love and laughter.

Friends welcome Saturday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 12-4 p.m. at the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, PA 15145, (412) 823-9350. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday 12 p.m. at St. Maurice Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Gary’s presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
