A lifetime resident of Braddock Hills, Bill was born in the house currently next door to his residence. He died on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the age of 96.
Bill was the beloved and devoted husband of Mary Jane (Irvin) Archer for 74 years.
He was the treasured father of Glen (Joyce) Archer, Donna (Bruce) Lavrinc and William J. (Debra) Archer, all of whom reside in Braddock Hills.
Bill was the cherished grandfather of Greg (Allison Nemey) Archer, Desiree’ (Frank Rizza) Lavrinc, Brandon (Lyndee) Lavrinc, Kimberley Farrar, Christopher Archer and Jonathan Archer.
He also was the great-grandfather of Elizabeth, Jameson, Sophia; Avee, Gia, Grayson and Atlas.
Bill was a Korean War Army veteran. He began his work career with Mesta Machine in Homestead but was drafted into the Army. He served in the 45th Division of the 279th on the front lines as a Medic during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, Bill was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. After his military service, Bill returned to Mesta Machine until the plant closure. He earned his Associate’s Degree from Triangle Tech and was trained in HVAC repair. He was employed at The Atrium in Oakland, from where he retired.
Bill’s fondest times and most precious ‘pastime’ was any time shared with his family.
All are welcome on Sunday from 1-7pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, (412) 824-8800 where a Blessing Service will be prayed on Monday at 10 a.m.
Bill will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
