Eugene W. Szatkowski

Of Forest Hills, age 87, died at his home in the care of his family on Monday, September 23rd.

Gene was the beloved husband of Sophie (Ochal) Szatkowski for 65 years.

He was the loving father of Mark (Becky) Szatkowski of Minnesota, Lisa (Szatkowski) Sepich of Peters Township (former son-in-law Bob Sepich) and Lori (Francis) Driscoll of White Oak.

Gene was the dear grandfather of Matthew, Andrew and Evan Szatkowski; Nicolle (Nathan) Bossory, Joe Driscoll and Zackary Sepich.

He was the proud great grandfather of Harrison and Kobi Szatkowski and Lillian Bossory.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred (Chinchor) Szatkowski and his brother, Robert Szatkowski.

Gene studied drawing and designing technology at Penn State McKeesport, and surveying at Community College of Allegheny County.  He retired from USSteel after 31 years of service.

During retirement, Gene worked part-time driving a school bus for First Student.

Gene was an ardent fan of Notre Dame and Pittsburgh Steeler football. When time permitted, he loved to go fishing.  Gene was an usher at the former Sacred Heart Parish and also served on the financial committee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be in Sacred Heart Church (St. Joseph the Worker Parish) on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Burke as the celebrant.

Gene will be laid to rest in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
