Erin Joy Foley-Johnson of Monroeville, PA, aged 46, passed away Tuesday afternoon October 26, 2021. Erin came into this world into the loving embrace of parents Eugene Patrick and Natalie W. Foley. She leaves behind a loving spouse, Michael J. Johnson, and dedicated son, Tyler Patrick Foley, both also of Monroeville. Her siblings Gene Foley Jr. (Baltimore), Maureen (and Scott) Martin (Pittsburgh), and Kathleen Thomas (Indianapolis) lovingly recall Erin’s ability to make them laugh and feel loved. She will be missed by her four-legged children Max and Luke.
Erin taught in the Woodland Hills School District as a Special Education teacher for two decades. Her care and concern for her students was known to all those in her classroom and with whom she taught, but Erin shunned the spotlight herself and rarely spoke of the extra lengths to which she went for her students and friends. Her impact outside of the classroom included tutoring homebound students. An avid cook she radiated her love of friends and family through meals prepared in her kitchen. She had a big heart and the gift of Irish wit.
Private family services will be held Friday morning followed by a funeral mass at St. James Catholic Church (St. Mary Magdalene) in Wilkinsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Erin’s name to The Humane Society. Funeral arrangements made by the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Turtle Creek/Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, PA 412-823-9350.
