Obituary of Elmer S. Beatty, Jr.

Of Forest Hills, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Elmer was born August 3, 1945, the son of the late Elmer Beatty Sr. and the late Florence Grove Beatty. He was the beloved father to Christopher (Christina) Beatty, Caroline (Gino) Cordisco, and Susan (Michael) Sawayda; Dear Pap to grandchildren Julia and Luke Cordisco, Samantha, Matthew, and Nathan Sawayda, and Theodore and Gemma Beatty; Loved Brother to Margaret “Peggy” Copeland and the late Dr. Charles Copeland; Special Uncle to Charlie (Linda) Copeland, Scott (Rosie) Copeland, and Melissa (Bill Cherpak) Parrucci; and former husband to Connie Beatty.

Elmer was a 1963 graduate of Swissvale High School, Bradley University in 1967, and then Duquesne University Law School. His professional life included practicing law and a true calling toward education, having taught at Brentwood High School, the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, and the Western School of Health and Business. In his later life, he enjoyed chauffeuring for Regency Transportation and meeting his passengers. His biggest passion in life was golf, regularly playing until recently. He could boast of a 1 handicap and 7 holes-in-one. He also shared his love of history and the Pittsburgh Pirates with all that knew him.

Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Maurice Church of St. Joseph the Worker Parish on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Elmer will be entombed at Jefferson Memorial Park.
